Odisha govt imposes 14-day quarantine for people coming from West Bengal

The Odisha government has imposed a 14-day quarantine for people coming to the state from West Bengal. An order to this effect was issued yesterday particularly in view of the detection of the triple mutant variety of covid-19 virus in West Bengal and other states.

The government has asked the collectors of the border districts to erect check points on all inter-state roads along the border with West Bengal to track movement of people with immediate effect.

Whatever be the mode of travel from West Bengal to Odisha, one has to undergo 14 days' institutional or paid quarantine in centres identified by the local authorities. However, on the production of second dose vaccination certificate or RT-PCR negative report within 48 hours of entry into the state, one can have the liberty of home quarantine, that too for 14 days as



usual. 

No one entering Odisha from West Bengal would even be allowed to disembark anywhere inside the state, if one is enroute to another state through Odisha.

Meanwhile, the covid-19 active caseload of the state has shot up further beyond 35 thousand, with the detection of 6,000 new cases during the last 24 hours. In view of this, the state government has asked the private hospitals having 30 or more beds to reserve 50% of their general and ICU beds for covid-19 patients.

In yet another order, the state government has asked the private covid vaccination centres to source their covid-19 vaccines directly from the manufacturers from out of the 50% vaccine doses earmarked for the 'other than Government of India channels', with effect from 1st of May.
