The Biju Janata Dal(BJD) Member of Parliament meeting was held today at the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ahead of the Parliament session.

The meeting was to strategise the role of BJD MPs in the upcoming Budget session in Parliament.

Apart from a clear objection against the implementation of certain sections of the National Population Register (NPR) on the origin of parents' place of birth, the decision to scrap column 13(2) in the NPR format 2020 was also taken.

Party MP Pinaki Mishra said, "The party will vehemently raise unemployment and price rise issue in the

Parliament."

Chief Minister Naveen has asked his party MPs to raise the early completion of the pending railway projects, clean energy cess, release of arrears in coal royalty and GST, Polavaram project and inter-state river water disputes on Mahanadi.

Party MP Pinaki Mishra also said that in the upcoming general Census 2021, OBC needs to be added as a separate column in the register.

Pinaki Mishra also said that in the 2011 Census, OBC enumeration was not carried out and even by any chance if it was done, it was never disclosed due to which OBC communities, which are a very important part of our society, were left out.
