North east monsoon is active over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Chennai Met Office Director Balachandran said, upper air cyclonic circulation has moved from southwest Bay of Bengal to interior Tamil Nadu. This is expected to bring heavy rain in southern Tamil Nadu including Kannya Kumari and Tirunelveli districts.
With Northeast monsoon becoming active over Kerala, most places in the state



received rain yesterday. Indian Meteorological Department said Punalur in Kollam district, Peringamala in Thiruvananthapuram, Ottapalam in Palakkad and Konni in Pathnamthitta district were among the areas where heavy rains were recorded. The IMD said rain and thunder showers are likely to occur in most places in the state and in at least one or two places in Lakshadweep in the next 5 days.
