The government has denied the opposition's demand for a discussion in Parliament regarding the Special Intensive Role (SIR) revision exercise in Bihar. Top government sources confirmed that no discussion will be held, stating that the government cannot respond on behalf of the Election Commission of India (ECI), which is an independent body

conducting the revision.
The India bloc has been protesting in Parliament, demanding a debate on the issue. The government's formal reasoning is, “How can the government speak at the behest of the ECI.” While refusing the debate on the SIR, the government has stated its readiness to discuss other issues raised by the opposition.
