Jasir Bilal Wani, alias Danish and a resident of Kashmir, was arrested from Srinagar by an NIA team that was in the Valley in connection with the Delhi bomb blast case that killed at least 14 people last week. The accused, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, was an active co-conspirator behind the attack and had worked closely with the terrorist, Umar un Nabi, to plan the terror carnage.

According to sources, Danish was not only involved in the bombing conspiracy along with Umar, but was also told by him to be prepared to carry out a fidayeen (suicide) attack.

The two first met at a mosque in Kashmir where Dr. Umar had allegedly brainwashed Danish, and instructed him to be prepared for a suicide attack.

The NIA’s initial probe revealed that Jasir had

allegedly provided technical support for terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets in the run-up to the deadly car bomb blast near Red Fort.

Jasir was detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police three days ago, and his father, a dry-fruit seller, died by suicide on Sunday by pouring kerosene on himself and setting himself on fire.

So far, the NIA has examined scores of witnesses, including several survivors injured in the blast, as part of its effort to trace every link in the chain of the conspiracy.

According to the NIA, the priority now is to uncover the larger network behind the attack, including those involved in planning, logistics and funding, to ensure every member of the group responsible for the Red Fort bombing is identified and brought to justice.
