The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Maharashtra Government over reported sexual exploitation at a Children's shelter home in Nashik.

Taking suo motu cognizance of media reports, the NHRC has asked the state government for a detailed report on the matter within six weeks. The NHRC has sought details including status of the FIR, progress and outcome of investigation, arrest of the accused, health status of the victim girls and monetary relief, if



any, provided to the victims.

It was reported in media that the Director of a children private facility was arrested for allegedly subjecting a 14 years old girl to rape and six more girls have alleged sexual exploitation.

The commission has also assigned its official to prepare a detailed report on the shelter home's condition and measures being taken to improve the living standard of the children within 2 months.
