Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for fighting attempts to divide India and defeating its enemies in his Dussehra message while addressing Vijayadashami celebrations at Delhi’s Indraprastha Ramleela Ground. His remarks came amid protests by the CJP demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Earlier in the day, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat warned of attempts to change the regime in India while addressing the organisation’s Vijayadashami Utsav 2026 in Nagpur.
Bhagwat said demonic forces were plotting to dismantle India, Hindus and the Sangh, and that some people were helping them in this endeavour.
Carrying on from where Bhagwat left off, PM Modi said, “All political parties must unite to fight against India’s enemies and those seeking to divide the country.”
The Prime Minister also said Vijayadashami celebrates the triumph of good over evil and reminds people of the enduring strength of truth and
righteousness.
"On this auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, I bow at the feet of Lord Shri Ram, Maa Janaki, and Bajrangbali. In this sacred atmosphere, I extend my heartfelt Vijayadashami wishes to all the people of the country," the Prime Minister said.
He observed that the spirit of Lord Ram and the tradition of Ramlila continue to unite the country, with celebrations taking place in villages and cities across India.
"This is not merely a festival celebrated across the country. It is the very life force of India," PM Modi said, adding that the celebrations reaffirm the victory of righteousness over unrighteousness.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of making India fully self-reliant, saying that a country can progress when it develops the ability to meet its needs through its own resources.
Referring to the teachings of Lord Ram, PM Modi said they showed people how to find solutions to problems using their own resources.
