The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to announce its Vice-President candidate by August 12, according to sources. Prime Minister Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda will make the final selection for the NDA pick, sources added.

Sources indicated that a surprise candidate is possible, as is often the case with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the

NDA.

The last day for filing nominations is August 21, with withdrawals allowed until August 22. A crucial meeting was held where it was decided that "they all need to be on the same page" regarding the voting process. The NDA holds a majority in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. This decision follows the recent resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar as Vice-President.
