Hubballi: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has clarified that the names of minority voters are not removed from the voters’ list in Bengaluru. 

Speaking to the media at Hubballi airport on Friday, the Chief Minister ruled out the allegations made by Congress party that NGO, the Chilume Educational Cultural and Rural Development Institute have collected personal information of the voters and misused the data.

He said that both Election Commission of India and the State Electoral Office are seized of the matter and probing the allegations. He stressed that the



Election Commission will ensure that genuine voters are not eliminated from the voters’ list. He added that the Commission must also ensure that the persons with multiple voters EPIC cards with different residential addresses must also be identified and the list updated.

The Congress party has, however, alleged that the NGO meant to conduct Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation, SVEEP has also collected details pertaining to caste, age, gender, employment, education, Aadhar number, voter ID number, and email addresses of the voters surveyed.
