Myanmar President Htin Kyaw will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. He arrived in New Delhi from Agra yesterday on the last leg of his four day visit to India.Mr Kyaw will be given a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhawan in the morning. During his bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi this afternoon, a host of issues, including border management and ways to contain militant activities along the Indo-Myanmar border, are likely to figure.
Both countries share more than 1,600 kilometer long border and one of India’s concerns has been the

presence of insurgent groups along the border. Both sides are also likely to discuss ways to boost trade ties. President Kyaw’s visit assumes special significance in view of the Government’s impetus on Act East policy and India’s increasing strategic as well as trade engagement with countries on the eastern borders.
Mr Kyaw is also scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and hold discussions on mutual interest. This is the first visit by the Myanmar President after assumption of office by the new government in March this year.
