The Nation is paying homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 156th birth anniversary today. A series of functions is being organised across the country and by Indian Missions abroad. A Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha is being held at Bapu’s Samadhi, Rajghat, in the National Capital.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat this morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 156th birth anniversary today. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that Gandhi Jayanti is about paying homage to the extraordinary life of beloved Bapu, whose ideals transformed the course of human history.
Praising the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, the Prime Minister said
that he has demonstrated how courage and simplicity could become instruments of great change. He further said that Mahatma Gandhi believed in the power of service and compassion as essential means of empowering people. Mr Modi stated that the nation will continue to follow his path to build a Viksit Bharat.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tribute to the father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 156th birth anniversary. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that Mahatma Gandhi, who inspired the people of the nation to join the freedom movement and gave the core message of achieving economic and social self-reliance through Gram Swaraj and cooperation.
Recalling the movements of Gandhiji, the Minister further said that he established Swadeshi and Swachhta as the core principles of Indian society. Praising his ideas of truth, non-violence, and peace, Mr Shah said these will continue to inspire humanity for eternity.
