Amid escalating security concerns in Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran on Tuesday said it has relocated most Indian students from the capital to safer locations outside the city, arranging their transport, food and accommodation.

In an advisory issued on March 3, the embassy said the move was taken due to the “heightened risk perception” in Tehran. Only a small number of students remain in the city after declining the mission’s offer of relocation, it

added.

The embassy reiterated its earlier guidance for Indian nationals still in Iran, urging them to stay where they are, remain indoors as far as possible and keep away from windows. It also advised citizens to exercise caution at all times and avoid areas where protests or demonstrations may take place.

Indians in the country have been asked to remain in regular contact with the Embassy of India in Iran and closely monitor further updates.
