Monsoon all set to reach Telangana

The much-awaited southwest monsoon is all set to reach Telangana over the next 48 hours with Met officials predicting good rainfall.
The southern states from the beginning of the monsoon season (from June 1) till Friday have received 18 per cent above rainfall than the normal. The normal rainfall for the 14-day period is 70.5 millimeter (mm), but the pre-monsoon rain in these areas has been recorded at 83 mm.
Telangana in particular has received rainfall of above 15 per cent than the normal from the beginning of June 1. Till now the state has received 63 mm of rainfall, 8.4 mm more than the normal rainfall of 54.6



mm.
Assistant Meteorological Officer of Met office in Hyderabad A Narasimha Rao said that compared to the monsoon rain over the past two years, the current pre-monsoon rains are showing a good beginning. “We can expect a growth of ten per cent than last year’s rain during June month,” he said.
Telangana received 50 per cent higher rainfall than normal in 2015. “About 142 mm rain was expected by the Met department in June 2015, but the actual rain received was around 220 mm,” Narsimha added.
The monsoon clouds hit Kerala on June 8 and by June 15 it has covered entire region of costal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
