In a major development, Maoists operating in the Maharashtra–Madhya Pradesh–Chhattisgarh (MMC) zone have issued a statement declaring their intention to surrender.
A letter released under the name of Anant, the MMC zone representative, stated that the group will lay down arms and surrender collectively on January 1, 2026, rather than
individually.
The letter mentioned that the Maoist organisation has been weakened following the surrender of senior leaders Mallojula and Ashanna, and the encounter in which top commander Hidma was killed.
The remaining cadres decided to surrender in response to the Central Government’s repeated appeals, the statement said.
