Mizoram govt to sign peace pact with rebel group

The stage is set for the signing of a peace pact between the Mizoram government and the Manipur-based Hmar People's Convention (Democratic), HPC (D) in Aizawl today. 

Additional Secretary (Home), Lalbiakzama said, all arrangements are in place for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding



at 4:30 PM.

HPC (D) is the only active rebel outfit in the state and the peace accord could bring lasting peace in the region.A consensus was reached on the terms of the deal last month after talks between the representatives of the state government and HPC (D) delegates.
