Andhra Pradesh Minister Nadendla Manohar conducted a surprise inspection in Tenali town of Guntur district and expressed strong displeasure over the failure of municipal authorities to clear accumulated garbage.
During his visit to the East Canal Bund Road near the RTC bus stand on Wednesday morning, the minister noticed that waste, which he had earlier ordered to be cleared, remained unattended. Local residents had brought the issue to his notice during his visit two days
ago.
Questioning the officials on the spot, the minister asked why the garbage had not been removed despite clear instructions.
Municipal staff responded that the waste volume was high and would be cleared after calling for tenders. Taking serious exception, the minister said that such basic work could be handled using municipal JCBs and tractors, and questioned the need for tenders.
He warned officials to take responsibility, stating that those unwilling to work could take leave.
