Mentally Unstable Man Allegedly Sets Mother On Fire In Ongole, AP

In a shocking case of alleged matricide which unfolded in Gaddalagunta area in Ongole, Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, a 70-year-old woman named Venkata Ramanamma was allegedly set on fire by her son on Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026.

As per reports, the incident occurred at their rental house, where the accused Kishore Babu was staying with his mother. According to neighbors, Kishore Babu, who runs a meat shop, has a history of quarreling with his mother and is reportedly mentally



unstable and also addicted to alcohol.

When Ramanamma was sleeping, Kishore Babu allegedly poured petrol and set her on fire. Neighbors who noticed the flames confronted Kishore Babu, who gave evasive answers and fled the scene. 

The fire department and police arrived promptly, but Ramanamma had already died and was charred beyond recognition. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The body has been sent to RIMS in Ongole for post-mortem.
