Marathwada region of Maharashtra experiences heavy rainfall due to cyclone Gulab

The effects of cyclone Gulab is being felt in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, where heavy rainfall is reported from almost all districts since last night. Incessant rainfall has led to floods in rivers and canals.

Due to heavy rainfall in catchment area of Manjra dam in Beed prompting the administration to open 18 gates of the dam to release excess water. In Nanded too, heavy downpour is being witnessed since wee hours. Eight gates of Dr. Shankarao Chavan Vishnupuri Project are being opened to release excess water leading to floods in the Godavari river.

Intense spells of rain is also experienced in Osmanabad, Parbhani, Aurangabad and Jalna. The water capacity in the Jaikwadi dam has gone up to 84 per cent. Incessant rainfall has been



experienced in Solapur, Dhule, Buldhana and Washim districts.

Meanwhile, the IMD has said that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and moderate to intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Pune, Ahmednagar, Beed, Sangli during next few hours.

Similarly, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and intense to very intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Hingoli, Parbhani, Solapur, Satara, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Dhule and Nashik. People have been advised to take precautions.
