Kothagudem: Three Maoists, including one Central Committee member, were killed in an exchange of fire between the police and CPI (Maoist) Party cadres in the forests of Maredumilli forests in Alluri Sitaramaraju district in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

The Maoist Central Committee as well as Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee member, Gajarla Ravi alias Uday alias Birusu and AOB member Venkata Ravi Lakshmi Chaitanya alias Aruna were among the three naxals killed in the encounter. Another naxal was yet to be identified.
Aruna was



the wife of slain Maoist Chalapathi, who played a key role in the bomb attack on AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Alipiri forests in 2003. Her mother Mavi and brother Azad were also in the Maoist party and were killed in encounters in the past.

According to sources, AP police launched search operations in Maredumilli forests following a tip off received on Tuesday evening about the presence of Maoists. The encounter took place early in the morning. An AK-47 rifle was recovered from the encounter spot
