Man Snatches Gold Chain of Woman at Palavanthangal Station

A 29-year-old man was arrested for snatching an 8-gram gold chain from a young woman at Palavanthangal railway station after being chased and caught by alert commuters with the assistance of a railway police constable. 

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Abhinaya 21, a resident of Chengalpet, was walking near the ticket counter at Palavanthangal railway station after visiting relatives. 

Police said the accused suddenly approached her, snatched the gold chain from



around her neck and attempted to flee.

Railway police recovered the 8-gm gold chain from the accused and returned it to the complainant after completing the necessary legal formalities. 

Police instructed her not to alter the chain, as it may be required to be produced before the court during the trial. 

Manikandan was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody at Puzhal central prison. Further investigation is under way.
