Udyambag police have arrested a 39-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly selling chocolate packets containing a ganja-mixed narcotic substance near an engineering college in Belagavi.
The accused has been identified as Bholu from Chamrupur of Uttar Pradesh, presently residing at Hanuman Nagar in Belagavi.
According to Karnataka police, Bholu was allegedly selling the packets to people on a roadside near the engineering college when a team from Udyambag police station raided the spot on
Friday.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Shekharappa H, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Khadebazar Subdivision, and led by Police Inspector Mahantesh V Hosapete.
The Karnataka Police seized 27 packets weighing a total of 6.858 kg, valued at Rs 54,000, besides a mobile phone worth Rs 10,000, Rs 600 in cash and a scooter valued at Rs 30,000. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 94,600. A case has been registered at Udyambag police station under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway.
