Chennai: In a bizarre incident, a 30-year-old man cooked up a 'twin' brother story to hide his first marriage from his 'fiancee'.  The accused identified as Wallander Bennett Ryan already has a child from his first marriage.

The inquiry from the woman's side revealed that Ryan deliberately hid his first marriage and got engaged to her.

After a complaint from a woman, who got engaged to Ryan, the Chennai police in Tamil Nadu have launched a hunt for the accused. 

The woman came to know that Ryan was already married with a child and despite that went ahead with engagement with her, according to a report in media.

The inquiry from the woman's side revealed that Ryan deliberately hid his first marriage and got engaged to her and took Rs 3.5 lakh as dowry from her family. 

Police have now booked Ryan and his mother both of whom are absconding. 

Ryan, a resident of Arumbakkam befriended his 21-year-old colleague and two finally got



engaged. However, the accused did not tell the woman about his married status and child. 

Ryan was exposed when a common friend told the woman about his first marriage. When the woman confronted him, he cooked up a story about his twin brother.

Ryan even produced fake voter ID, Aadhaar card and even a birth certificate of his alleged 'twin' brother to convince the woman. He told his fiance that his brother was married and settled in Dubai. 

The accused was exposed for the second time when a relative of the woman informed her family about Ryan's first marriage. Upset over this, the woman demanded dowry amount back and Ryan threatened to attack her with acid.

The woman's family then filed a complaint against Ryan and his mother Celina Ryan at Avadi all women police station.
