Maharashtra reeling under the outbreak of swine flu. 222 positive cases of the H1N1 virus have been detected in the state till now this season. 48 people died because of swine flu out of which 18 are from Pune and adjoining area. Out of 222 positive cases, 179 were detected after 1st August. 

Health department officials pointed out



that a higher number of positive cases in one month was due to the wet conditions that prevailed throughout the month which in turn creates a favourable condition for the H1N1 virus. State health department has intensified surveillance and asked doctors to administer Oseltamivir within 48 hours if a patient has swine flu-like symptoms.
