The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday approved the Rural Drinking Water Policy 2026 aimed at ensuring a sustainable and quality drinking water supply in villages.
The cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also gave its nod to setting up a High Energy Medical Cyclotron Project in Nagpur to strengthen disease diagnosis and treatment
facilities.
Under the new Rural Drinking Water Policy, the government will focus on long-term and sustainable solutions to drinking water scarcity in rural areas.
Necessary amendments to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, Maharashtra Municipalities Act and Maharashtra Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Industrial Townships Act were also approved.
