Maha Navami or Durga Navami is being celebrated in different parts of the country today. On this day, the Goddess Durga is worshipped as Mahisasuramardini, which symbolises the victory of good over evil.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Maha Navami. In a tweet, Mr Modi sought the blessings of Goddess Siddhi Datri for the well-being of the society.

In Uttar Pradesh, Maha Navami is being celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety. Devotees are breaking  their nine day long fasting at Maha Navami, the last day of Navratri



today. 

The goddess temples are  abuzz with the large number of devotees and the atmosphere is reverberating  with the chanting of Bhajans, Kirtans  of goddess and sounds of conchs and shells. Devotees are offering coconut, red Chunari and fruits to the Goddess. 

Kanya Bhoj are  being organised at various places including Capital city Lucknow. Emersion of Maa Duga idols will start from today for which district administrations have made all security and necessary arrangements.Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has greeted people on this occasion.
