Madan Mitra surrenders in court

In Kolkata, the Alipur Court remanded the former West Bengal Transport Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra to 14 days in custody. Mr. Mitra surrendered before the court last night after a Division Bench of Calcutta High Court cancelled his bail on Sardha Chit Fund Scam.

Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">The Alipur Court, earlier, granted bail to Mr. Mitra on 31st of last month. The CBI moved before the court urging cancellation of the bail of the former Minister. The CBI told the court that the investigation of the case will be influenced if he goes out of bar. The CBI arrested Mr. Mitra on Sharda Chit Fund Scam in December last year.
