New Delhi: Just a few months ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday dropped a big hint and said that the BJP is ready for an alliance with Tamil Nadu's political parties. "The door is open for all," said the PM.

"Even when the BJP won a majority on its own, we preferred to run the government with our allies. We cherish our old friends. Doors are always open for all political parties," said the PM.

The PM's statement came amid reports that the BJP is eyeing an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

The Prime Minister said this in a video-conference interaction with party booth-level workers from five districts in Tamil Nadu. Seeking to strengthen the NDA in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2019 General Elections, PM Narendra Modi recalled the "successful coalition politics" ushered in by former prime minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the 1990s and said the BJP's doors were "always open".  by saying: "...20 years ago the visionary leader Atal ji brought in a new culture to Indian politics, that of successful coalition politics. He gave utmost importance to regional aspirations... The BJP has followed the way Atal ji has shown us."
