Lok Sabha adjourned for the day today

New Delhi: Both Houses of Parliament continued to witness uproar over the Opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani Group matter and other issues. This is the 12th consecutive day of the second leg of the Budget Session when the proceedings of the Houses were disrupted. Amid the din, the Lok Sabha adjourned for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2 PM.

In the Lok Sabha, when the House reassembled after the first adjournment at 12 noon, opposition members, including from Congress, DMK and others trooped into the Well, raising slogans in favour of their demand for a JPC probe in the Adani Group matter. Other Opposition members, including TMC, JD(U), Shiv Sena (UBT), and others were on their feet. 

Amid the din, Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav introduced the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill, 2023. He also moved The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
 
Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman moved the Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2022 which was passed by the House without discussion. Amid chaotic scenes, the Presiding Officer urged the agitating members to go back to their seats. It has been



announced by the Chair that there will be no sitting of the House on the 31st of this month. Amid pandemonium, the Presiding Officer adjourned the House for the day. The next sitting of the House will be held on 3rd April.
 
Earlier, when Lok Sabha met this morning, Opposition members, including from Congress, DMK, and others trooped into the Well, raising slogans to demand a JPC probe into the Adani Group matter. The agitating members attired in black raised slogans in the House. Amid the din, the Presiding Officer adjourned the House till 12 PM.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha when the House assembled for the day. Members of the Congress party trooped into the Well, demanding a JPC probe into the Adani Group matter. MPs of DMK, TMC, Left, Aam Aadmi Party, and others were on their feet. Members from Congress, DMK were seen wearing black outfits to register their protest. 

Treasury bench members also reiterated their demand seeking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's apology for his remarks on Indian democracy. As the ruckus continued, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the House till 2 PM.
