A Female Philippines national, travelling to Manila via Bangkok, was stopped at Chennai International Airport and is being interrogated after security personnel found a live 7.62 mm bullet in her handbag on Friday morning.
The woman, identified as Elvira Ambrosio, 36, had arrived with her two children to board a Thai Airways flight. The security personnel noticed an alert while scanning
Ambrosio’s handbag.
During questioning, she reportedly told the security personnel that she was not carrying any dangerous material.
The handbag was subsequently opened and a live 7.62 mm ammunition round was found inside. Following the recovery, the travel plans of Ambrosio and her children were cancelled and she was subjected to further questioning by airport security officials.
