Railways has allowed lawyers in Mumbai along with the registered clerks of advocates in different courts to travel by currently operating special suburban trains in the city.
They can travel in special suburban trains in Mumbai from today.
The Central Railway and the Western Railway in a joint press release said that practicing lawyers and registered clerks can use the suburban services on all working days only during non-peak hours, which includes up to 8 in the morning, between 11 am
to 4 pm and 7 pm onwards till the last train.
According to the release, monthly passes will not be issued but lawyers and their registered clerks will have to buy tickets every time while traveling by suburban trains.
It added that the train tickets will be sold only upon production of a valid identity card issued by the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in the case of lawyers and by the Bombay High Court registry in the case of registered clerks.
