Ladakh receives fresh snowfall after a long spell of dry season

Ladakh has received fresh snowfall this morning after a long spell of dry season. Although the cold wave has intensified in the region, farmers have welcomed the snowfall.

 

Ladakh especially the areas of Leh receiving snow today. Leh district has not seen significant snow this season. People have been waiting for snowfall to end the dry



season.

 

Snowfall is one of the sources for retreat of the glaciers and water bodies as Ladakh is uniquely dependent on glacier melt water for irrigation and other purposes. Ladakh lies in the rain shadow zone with scanty rainfall. 

 

The people in general and farmers in particular are enjoying the snowfall.
