Kovind 'Excavate 1,008 Shivlings buried in Cauvery floods'

After participating in bhoomi puja for renovation of the Saptha Kanniyar Mahalathukala Pidari temple at Nemam village on Sunday, Mr Kovind said that King Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar



Suvaran Maran, who ruled Nemam, used to wear the Vahai flower before going to war after worshipping Kala Pidariamman. He won 16 battles. 

He engraved his name and fame in epigraphs. He installed 1,008 Shivlings in that area for making it an auspicious land. Those lingas were buried when Cauvery was in spate. "People here should start the excavation of the lingas," he said.
