A woman in Kolkata's Bansdroni area was allegedly raped for several years by a person she had befriended on social media, police said on Thursday.
A zero FIR has been registered at the Metiabruz police station, and an investigation is underway, they said. According to the complaint, the woman came in contact with the accused around seven years ago through social media, and the duo went on several trips together.
She claimed that during one such trip, the man allegedly raped her in a hotel room, clicked photographs and
took videos, a police officer said.
The complaint stated that the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted her by blackmailing the woman, threatening her of making the photos and videos public.
"A zero FIR has been registered at the Metiabruz police station. As the accused is a resident of the Brahmapur area under the jurisdiction of Bansdroni police station, and a part of the alleged offences were reported to have taken place there, the case has been transferred to them after preliminary proceedings," the officer told Media.
