Keralam Appoints New Office-Bearers to Major Cultural Institutions

The Keralam government on Saturday appointed new office-bearers to several major cultural institutions, amid criticism over the delay in making the appointments after the UDF came to power. 

A statement issued by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Cinema said poet, writer and orator Kalpetta Narayanan has been appointed chairman of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, while writer and journalist M P Surendran will be its new secretary.

Renowned singer and music composer G Venugopal will



head the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi as chairman, it said. Hemanthkumar, who has been active in theatre and cultural activities, will be the vice-chairman, while N V Pradeepkumar will be the new secretary. 

Actor and film festival curator Ravindran has been appointed chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Akademi, the statement said. Actor and cultural activist Priyanka Nair will be the vice-chairperson, while actor Salim Hassan and filmmaker Jofin T Chacko will be members of the executive committee.
