Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena directed to impose restrictions on the number of participants in public gatherings and events associated with the upcoming State Assembly elections. He issued a letter to the State Chief secretary regarding the matter.
 
The move is aimed at ensuring public



health safety amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 protocol and social distancing should be strictly maintained at campaigning events. The officer also noted that political parties, candidates and the general public associated with the polls are obliged to adhere to the directions.
