Met Department has issued an orange alert in four north Kerala districts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

A yellow alert suggesting the likelihood of isolated heavy rain is in place in all other districts in Kerala, besides



Lakshadweep.

The department said squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail  along and off Kerala coast and Lakshadweep islands. Those engaged in fishing activities have been asked not to venture into the sea.
