The Kerala government has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the state on Monday in view of the FIFA World Cup final, which will be played in the early hours of the morning.
Chief Minister VD Satheesan has directed that all educational institutions, including professional colleges, remain closed tomorrow.
However, examinations that have already been scheduled in advance will be conducted as planned. The official government order is expected to be issued
shortly.
The decision comes after demands from the opposition and others to consider granting a holiday for students. Former Education Minister V Sivankutty had earlier said that it would be difficult for children to attend classes in the morning after the match, which would end after midnight.
The holiday will allow students and institutions to adjust to the late-night schedule of the FIFA World Cup final, while pre-scheduled examinations will continue as per the existing timetable.
