In Kerala, five wards in Thiruvaly and Mampad panchayats in Malappuram district have been declared as containment zones, in the wake of the death of a 24-year-old student, whose body samples were confirmed to be Nipah positive.
The district authorities said restrictions are in place in these areas as per
Nipah protocol. People have been asked to wear masks as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, a 50-member team comprising health workers began a door-to-door survey in Thiruvaly on Monday to list out fever cases and other health issues in the region.
