Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that strict restrictions and stringent measures will be imposed throughout the state from today onwards, amid the spike in COVID cases. Restrictions similar to the lockdown will be in place until the ninth of this month. Only essential services will be allowed to function throughout the state. Public transport will function. Restaurants must engage in parcel services only.
 
Employees working in companies, industries and organizations working in connection with essential services can travel with valid identity card. IT Institutions should provide work-from-form facilities to as many people as possible. At other institutions, only a few essential employees need to be present. Employees and employers functioning in all establishments should strictly wear dual



masks.
 
Markets will be strictly monitored to avoid crowding and should be closed within the stipulated time limit. Also, strict regulations will be imposed on  gatherings related to marriage, funeral service etc. 

Admission to places of worship with a small area and limited facilities will be strictly limited to 50 people. Also, weekend restrictions imposed in the state will continue.
 
Meanwhile, 26,011 new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed yesterday. The test positivity rate is at 27.01 percent. 19,519 persons have recovered from the covid infection. 45 deaths were confirmed due to Covid yesterday taking the total death toll to 5,450.  At present 3,45,887 people in the state are undergoing treatment to recover from the covid infection.
