Kerala civic polls: Voting begins in five districts

In Kerala, the first phase of local body elections has begun. Voting in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki districts began at 7 this morning and will continue till 6 pm.

A total of

24,584 candidates are in the fray for 6813 wards in this phase. Poll is likely to witness a triangular contest between CPM- led LDF, Congress-led UDF and the BJP-led NDA.
