In Jammu and Kashmir, the curfew and restriction remain in force across Kashmir on 33rd consecutive day in view of continuous shut down call by separatists and prevailing law and order situation. Restrictions under Section 144 continue of the CrPC in other South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha will today take up a discussion on Jammu and Kashmir issue.
Thousands defied curfew imposed to prevent a protest march on Friday to Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, which is when the clashes broke out. The government had put restrictions in place in various old Srinagar areas to thwart the Friday protests in the city.
Meanwhile, Separatists extended their strike call till 12 August. A state of unrest is prevalent in the valley after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with the security forces on July 8.
