TVK chief and actor Vijay is scheduled to appear once again before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi for questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case, which claimed 41 lives and left over 60 people injured during his party’s rally last year.
The fresh round of questioning will focus on Vijay’s role at the event and the preparedness of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in handling the massive crowd that gathered for the rally.
Vijay left for the national capital on a chartered aircraft at around 4.15 pm, news agency PTI reported, quoting airport officials.
This appearance follows his earlier examination by the CBI, during which he was
questioned for over six hours regarding the circumstances that led to the deadly stampede at the September 27, 2025 rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur.
His next summons comes after a brief postponement that Vijay had sought due to the Pongal festival.
During his first appearance before the central agency, Vijay maintained that neither he nor his party bore responsibility for the incident, sources said.
He also explained his decision to leave the venue early, saying that he felt his continued presence could have worsened the situation.
“Vijay also said he left the venue as he felt his presence could create chaos and ruckus,” sources said.
