Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will hold a meeting with experts today after two cases of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron were reported in the state.

Karnataka Chief Minister told reporters in New Delhi that they will hold a meeting with all details and will come out with new SoPs. He said they are also trying to get expert views and guidelines of the Centre. The Chief Minister said he has also asked the state health



minister and chief secretary to gather more information.

The chief minister said he has already discussed the matter with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya who has assured to share complete details of these new cases with the state government.

The new COVID-19 variant was first reported to the World Health Organisation (WHO) from South Africa on November 25.
