Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the officials to complete the tender process at the earliest for setting up cold storage facilities at Thoravi village in Vijayapura district in a public-private partnership model.

The Chief Minister was chaired a meeting of Karnataka Grape and Wine Board and the Department of Horticulture in Bengaluru yesterday.

During the meeting Mr. Bommai said that about 1 lakh tons of grapes is being produced in Vijayapura and

surrounding areas and there is a need to increase the storage capacity.

Action should be taken to provide loans under the National Horticulture Mission for Grape Growers Cooperatives. Greater support should be extended for branding and export of resins and other grape products.

The Chief Minister also said that cargo handling facilities would be provided at the Vijayapura airport being built to help the export of these products.
