Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced a solatium of two lakh rupees to the families of nine persons who died in a ghastly road accident near Arsikere in Hassan district yesterday. Talking to reporters at Ambigrama Helipad in K R Pet taluk, the Chief Minister said, the dead bodies are handed over to the families after the post-mortem.

On the issue of rains again lashing parts of the state, the Chief Minister said, officials have been instructed to take up emergency measures immediately. He said the Deputy Commissioners of the rain-hit districts have been asked to be vigilant. A sum of 600 crore rupees is released to improve infrastructure in the tanks. Mr. Bommai informed us that a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers will be held on Monday to discuss in detail various issues related to rainfall.
