Karnataka BJP leader Falls Into Open Drain, Files Complaint

Karnataka BJP leader and State Milk Cell convenor Raghavendra Shetty has filed a police complaint against Bengaluru in-charge Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, MLA Byrathi Suresh, BBMP officials and others, alleging civic negligence after he fell into a six-foot-deep open drain on 80 Feet Road on the night of July 17. 

Shetty alleged that the drain had been cleaned but was left uncovered and without barricades, creating a dangerous hazard that was difficult to spot in the dark. He suffered fractures in both legs in the fall and is undergoing treatment at Sparsh Hospital. Doctors have reportedly advised that he may be unable to walk for six



months.

Shetty also alleged that the police have not yet registered an FIR despite his complaint, raising questions over the handling of the matter. The incident comes weeks after a BMC worker fell into an open drain in Mumbai's Matunga, shortly after Mayor Ritu Tawde spoke about the city's monsoon preparedness and civic infrastructure. 

The worker lost his balance while working near the drain and fell into the open channel, prompting police and civic officials to launch a rescue operation. The incident was captured on camera and went viral on social media, renewing concerns over the safety of civic workers during monsoon operations.
