The judicial custody of four accused, including two suspended police sub-inspectors, in the honour killing of 24-year-old software engineer Kavin Selvaganesh of Thoothukudi district was extended till September 1 by the Tirunelveli Second Additional District Court on Wednesday.
The case came up for hearing before Judge Hema, with CB-CID personnel producing the four accused — Surjith; his father and suspended sub-inspector K. Saravanan; his mother and suspended
sub-inspector Krishnakumari; and his relative Jeyapaul — through video conference.
The CB-CID informed the Tirunelveli court that it had moved the Madurai Bench seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Saravanan in the Kavin murder case.
Accepting the CB-CID's request to take Saravanan into custody in the Kavin case, the court extended the judicial custody of Saravanan, Surjith, Krishnakumari and Jeyapaul till September 1.
