Amid the ongoing student protest in Ranchi's Jaipal Singh Munda Ground, the Jharkhand government has cancelled the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and all recruitment conducted through the Lucknow-based management agency, TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL).
In addition to this, Chief Minister Hemant Soren also announced that all the examinations conducted by the TDPL since 2014 would be investigated by the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
Soren further said that the results published by TDPL would also stand cancelled. The announcement came after talks between the government and protesting students remained inconclusive in the previous round of discussions.
“All the exams conducted by TDPL and publication of
results by TDPL are now cancelled. Examinations and recruitment conducted through TDPL stand cancelled,” Soren said.
The Chief Minister said the government was serious about the concerns raised by the protesters and was committed to addressing the issues.
“For the last 24 days, students have been agitating. The minister's panel has attempted to address the issues of protestors,” Soren said, adding that several of their demands had already been conceded.
Celebrations erupted at and outside the protest site as protesters were seen shouting, crying tears of joy and congratulating each other soon after Soren’s announcement. The cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination and a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities were at the core of the students' demands from day one.
