Three Maoists and a commando of the Maharashtra police’s elite C-60 unit were killed, while another commando was injured, in an anti-naxal operation underway along the Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli and Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district borders.
The operation was launched on Tuesday following information about the presence of CPI (Maoist) company-10 cadres in the Abujhmad area under the limits of the Maharashtra Bhamragad police
sub-division.
The body of a Maoist, along with an AK-47 rifle and a self-loading rifle (SLR), was recovered on Thursday, and two bodies of Maoists, including that of a woman, were recovered on Friday. The identity of the killed Maoists is yet to be ascertained.
The deceased C-60 commando Deepak Chinna Madavi (38) was injured during the anti-naxal operation and was airlifted to a government health facility at Bhamragad on Friday morning. He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
