Jawan killed in Kupwara encounter

 A jawan was on Wednesday killed in an encounter with militants in a forest area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir, police said.
The jawan, Om Veer Singh, was injured in the encounter and was rushed to hospital where he was declared



brought dead, a police official said.
Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in the Watsar forests in Handwara area of the district on Tuesday night following information about the presence of militants there, the official said.
